The time and energy frittered away in carrying out the futile task of holding one’s umbrella with one hand can be put to much better use. The umbrella will be led by a compact, sturdy and water-resistant controlled flying device, Wegyann, that will support the device to to hover in the air.

Collision Warning

The umbrella will have ultrasonic sensors that beware visually challenged walkers if they are in dangerously close vicinity of any solid object- a vehicle, wall, tree, etc. A speaker will start to beep if there is any such obstruction in a 1 metre radius of the person.

Wind Guard

In windy surroundings, its internal skeleton reconstitutes itself and takes a triangularly prismatic shape. The aerodynamics now work in favour of the user, and strong gusts of wind swiftly blow past the sides.

All Weather Ready

The GPS sensor attached to the drone continually gets information from the internet-connected mobile application about local weather conditions. Based on this input, the umbrella adapts itself to fully assage the customer’s every distress.

Temprotect

The folding canopy, called Temprotect, of the _ is made of advanced synthetic fibres including recycled Gore Tex (based on expanded polytetrafluoroethylene), neoprene and butyl rubber. These materials add immense strength to the product and help it endure even hailstorms and snowstorms.

Customers have the option of purchasing an additional layer of Temprotect, that they can stick to the surface of the umbrella, using Velcro fasteners and hooks with rounded edges. This additional covering will add extra safety to the product and will help guard customers in very rough weather.

Colour Changing

Our umbrellas are made up of conductive threads, coated with thermochromic pigments. As a result, with change in temperature of surrounding environments, the fabric automatically changes colours, giving you myriad irresistible hues that you can never get bored with. Colour-Shifting is the new black!

Navigatory and Safety Support

The user may enter the location to which she wants to walk, and the GPS receiver instantaneously maps out the quickest way to reach the spot. Through the speaker, simple directions about turns and number of steps are given to the traveller. Through the mobile application, acquaintances, who provide the password and answer a security question correctly, can keep track of the user’s whereabouts. A Safety Switch, that looks like an ordinary fastener, if pressed, will send SOS messages to four pre-saved numbers, informing them about the exigency and providing them the current location.

Curved Edges

Umbrella spokes pose the threat of harming passer-bys. Our product’s curved edges and extra fabric (which covers the ends of the supporting metal structure) solve this problem.

Torchlight

A small light-emitting diode fixed on the end of the umbrella will emit strong light, at the press of a button.

Voice Recognition

A voice box installed in the umbrella recognises sounds and saves voices and speech patterns of two owners. It opens only at the command of either of the two.

Water Storage

The pole of the umbrella will be a hollow transparent tube. The end of this tunnel exposed to the sky will have a cap, which if opened, will let the rainwater flow into and be stored in the pipe. A fine filter will be placed at the opening. Once the pipe has stored up to its full capacity (1.5 litres), the float sensor switch closes the cap, controlling the water level.

Extendable Umbrella

The traditional umbrella design barely strives to keep a single individual dry, let alone two or more. This forces individuals to carry their own umbrellas which not only needlessly increases the path space occupied by each individual and makes roads more congested. To counter this problem, we propose foldable FLAPS on both sides of the umbrella which can be opened if the need may arise.

UV Protection

The umbrella will be made of UV-protective black fabric, which gives assured protection from UV rays. White paint markers will be offered for sale too, which users can use to creatively doodle on the umbrella and give it the aesthetics that please them. Standardised, appealing white designs will also be available for direct purchase.
